Recently, Chengdu Shuangliu Airport Customs, affiliated to Sichuan Chengdu Customs, seized 17 suspected ivory products in the luggage of 5 inbound passengers, weighing 610 grams.

On March 26, the technical center laboratory of the customs confirmed that it was a live ivory product listed in the appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). At present, the customs is undergoing further disposal in accordance with regulations.

When the on-site customs officer supervised the inbound flight from Cairo, he found an abnormality in the machine inspection image of a passenger's checked baggage.

After unpacking and inspection, two black bracelets were found. Passengers described them as African black wooden bracelets, but the texture and color are different from common wooden bracelets.

The officer at the scene scratched the surface of the bracelet lightly with a knife and found that the outer layer was black paint with a milky white texture inside. Judging from the texture, it was suspected to be an ivory product.

After a thorough inspection of all the luggage of the passenger, another suspected ivory bracelet embedded in the paste was found in a multi-functional cleaning paste box.

After counting, the passenger carried 3 pieces of suspected ivory products, weighing 140 grams, and he stated that these bracelets and bracelets were wedding gifts brought back to his country to give to his children.

Subsequently, the on-site customs officer seized 14 pieces of suspected ivory products from the checked luggage of 4 other passengers on the same plane, weighing 470 grams.
