Belarus has been excluded from the Eurovision Song Contest scheduled for next May, after failing for the second time to present a song with which it participates, which corresponds to the non-political nature of the competition.
The European Broadcasting Union, which organizes the competition, said the day before yesterday that the two songs of the group "Galassi Zemista" "violated the competition rules, which guarantee not to use the competition as a tool or to harm its reputation."
The Federation stated that the State Broadcasting Corporation of Belarus (Belarus) has now passed the deadline for submitting a song to participate in the competition that complies with the rules, and therefore will not participate in the famous "Eurovision" competition.
The first song of "Galassi Zemista", titled "I will teach you," was rejected due to complaints that the song's lyrics mocked the mass protest movement against President Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus for a long time.
A new song was introduced after criticism, but it was also rejected by the European Broadcasting Union.
The Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held between May 18 and 22 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which won the right to host, after Dutch singer Duncan Lawrence won the 2019 edition of the competition.
It is noteworthy that the 2020 edition of the competition was canceled for the first time since the launch of this most prominent European singing competition 64 years ago, due to the Corona pandemic.
The competitions will be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, between May 18-22.
