After midnight on the 26th, a regular train collided with a passenger car on the JR Joban Line in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and the car burned.



The fire was extinguished after about an hour, but the car was burned down and about one-third of the train was burned.



A total of 64 passengers and crew were not injured.



In this accident, the Japan Transport Safety Board dispatched two accident investigators to the site to investigate.

When I was tracking a car that was running without turning on the lights for about 1.5 kilometers, I lost sight of it at a distance of about 500 meters from the site.



The fence between the railroad tracks and the road has collapsed, and police are investigating the whereabouts of the person who was driving, assuming that he had stopped the car on the railroad tracks and escaped after entering from this place.



Kazuo Hari, Deputy Chief of the Tsuchiura Police Station, commented, "I think that a follow-up investigation into a suspicious vehicle is a proper job, but details are being confirmed."

A 49-year-old man living about a kilometer from the scene said, "When I was sleeping at home, I heard a dragging sound, and then a horn sound. When I came to see the situation, I saw the railroad tracks. The stones were scattered on the road and then the pillars of fire went up. "



He also said, "Some people came to see the situation, saying,'I'm worried because my child is on the train.' I'm glad I heard that no one was injured."
