Why should one repeat in the deepest peace what has already been tried twice in war - and abolished again?

On April 6, 1980, the Federal Republic of Germany introduced daylight saving time.

On the night from Easter Saturday to Easter Sunday, the clock was put forward by one hour for the first time since 1949;

on September 28, 1980 this should be reversed.

Many older Germans thought back 40 years. For the last time the instrument was used on April 1, 1940, daylight saving time. So in the Second World War, but before the ongoing fighting began - there were letters to the editor in West German newspapers that seriously asked whether the situation was so bad that the Schmidt government had to resort to the same means as the Hitler regime once did.
