Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, entrance ceremonies were canceled at universities around the world last spring, but many universities are holding entrance ceremonies this spring for new second-year students who could not attend.

According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, according to a survey as of April last year, nearly 80% of the respondents answered that the entrance ceremony was postponed or canceled, and many first-year students could not participate in the entrance ceremony. I have lived a student life while face-to-face classes are also restricted.

Under these circumstances, each university is holding a series of entrance ceremonies for new second-year students in order to get them to start the new year with a new feeling.

Of these, Sophia University and Aoyama Gakuin University will be held just before the end of the year, such as March 31, and next month, when the new year begins, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Kobe University, Hokkaido University, Waseda University, Rikkyo University, etc. Entrance ceremonies for new second year students will be held at many universities such as Hokkaido University, Gakuin University, Tsuda College, Ritsumeikan University, and Kwansei Gakuin University.

Some universities, such as Meiji University and Hitotsubashi University, are jointly conducted by new 1st and 2nd year students.

On the other hand, some universities, such as Yokohama National University and Saitama University, will cancel the entrance ceremony this spring in order to ensure the safety of participants and prevent the spread of infection.

At each university, the participants will be limited to students, and the entrance ceremony will be distributed online to parents to take thorough infection prevention measures.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has requested each university this month to take all possible measures against infection before conducting the entrance ceremony, saying that it is an irreplaceable event for students.
