In Ehime Prefecture, 59 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed, and Governor Nakamura has raised the prefecture's own alert level to the highest "special alert period."

The policy is to request shortening of the business hours of restaurants in Matsuyama City, and we are considering the area and time.

On the 25th, the newly announced 59 infected people were the highest number of infected people per day, far exceeding 38 on January 8.

By region, Matsuyama City accounts for the majority with 55 people, Toon City has 2 people, Niihama City has 1 person, and Iyo City has 1 person.

By infection route, the number of restaurants was the highest at 45, the number of people involved in work was 4, and the number of people in contact with each other at home and in daily life was 3.

According to the prefecture, the main reason for the increase in infection is a large cluster of restaurants that are open late at night and entertain in the downtown area of Matsuyama City. There are 93 people.

Some of these samples have been confirmed to be infected with a mutant virus, and the prefecture considers them to be "mutant virus clusters."

Ehime Prefecture has raised the prefecture's own alert level to the highest "special alert period", saying that the risk of spreading the infection is increasing.

The "special alert period" was lifted on January 1st of this month after two extensions from January 8th, but the alert level was raised again in just over three weeks.

At the press conference, Governor Nakamura said, "We are already in the fourth wave. In addition, we have to say that a completely new wave of mutant strains, not rebounds, is rushing on a scale that we have never experienced." After showing a sense of caution, he said that the measures to prevent the spread of infection announced this time were "a de facto state of emergency" and asked the citizens of the prefecture for their understanding.

Furthermore, the prefecture plans to request that the business hours of restaurants in Matsuyama City be shortened by 9:00 pm.

Governor Nakamura expressed his intention to announce the details by the 27th, proceeding with concrete examination of the target area and cooperation fee.
