"The smell of spring is mixed with the smell of earth." Since this year, northern my country has encountered five sand and dust weather processes.

According to forecasts, from tomorrow (March 26) to 28, there will be another large-scale sand and dust process in the north. Beijing and other northern China will see sand or floating dust this weekend, and there will be sandstorms on the ground.

Why is the sand and dust weather so frequent this year?

The analyst of China Weather Network provides detailed answers.

North will welcome a round of sand and dust weather, Beijing's air quality deteriorated on Sunday

Today (25th), affected by the eastward movement of the high-altitude trough and the eastward movement of weak cold air southward, sand and dust weather mainly appeared in the northwestern region.

Starting tomorrow, due to the eastward movement of the Mongolian cyclone, there will be another strong sand and dust weather process in northern my country.

It is expected that there will be blowing sand or floating dust in central Inner Mongolia, northern Hebei and other places tomorrow.

This weekend, the scope of sand and dust weather will expand. Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Shandong and other places will have sand or floating dust weather, and local sandstorms will occur.

Among them, the sandy and dusty weather will reappear in Beijing on Sunday, and the air quality will deteriorate.

It is estimated that the affected time will be from early morning to daytime, with blowing sand mainly.

Many people still remember the strongest dust process in the past 10 years. Will the dust this time be as strong as the last time?

Zhang Juan, an analyst at China Weather Network, said that due to the impact of the Mongolian cyclone, the upcoming sand and dust process is similar to the previous impact, but the cyclone intensity is weaker than the last time, so the overall intensity of the sand and dust weather is weaker and the scope of influence is weaker. It's too small.

The abnormal warmer in the early stage of the sand source caused more sand and dust processes this year than normal

As of yesterday, there have been 5 sand and dust weather processes in the northern region this year, which is basically the same as the number of sand and dust weather from January to March of the year.

There will be two sand-dust weather processes in the next four days, making this year's sand-dust weather more than normal.

What caused the dust weather so frequent this year?

Zhang Juan said that starting from mid-to-late February, many parts of the north have been unusually warm. In the same period, the central and western sand sources of Inner Mongolia have become warmer. The soil has thawed early and the precipitation has continued to be low. A similar situation has also occurred in Mongolia. Under the influence of strong winds brought by Mongolian cyclones and cold air, sand and dust weather processes will be frequently set off.

From the perennial data statistics, after March every year, sand and dust weather in northern my country also enters a period of high incidence.

In spring, the temperature rises rapidly, and the northern sand sources begin to thaw. In addition, the frequent cold air activities in the north and the frequent occurrence of strong winds can easily blow up the soil or sand on the surface, thus forming a dusty weather.

Meteorological experts reminded that closing doors and windows is an effective way to avoid sand and dust.

When the dust weather strikes, the elderly, children, and people with respiratory diseases and allergies should reduce going out as much as possible. If they must go out, they need to take good health protection and wash their face, mouth and nose in time after going home.
