The administrative court of Baden-Württemberg has objected to the state's Corona regulation with a view to the duration of the quarantine for entry.

Insofar as it determined an obligation to quarantine over a period of ten days after entry, it was suspended, as the court announced in Mannheim on Wednesday.

The regulation provides for a 14-day quarantine requirement for entry from a virus variant area.

People coming from South Africa successfully sued this with an urgent motion.

There are currently no comprehensible scientific reasons for the obligation to be segregated for a period of 14 days when entering from a virus variant area - unlike when entering from a risk area, for which isolation for a period of ten days is required determine.

The country did not name such findings.

According to the publications of the Robert Koch Institute, they are also not recognizable for the court.

Stricter regulations than after entry from a “mere” risk area are possible if findings on a longer incubation period for virus variants are presented.

According to the court, mandatory testing at the end of quarantine is also conceivable.

South Africa has been classified as a virus variant area since December 2020.

A conditional travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office and a transport ban for airlines apply.

Traveling to South Africa via detours is not prohibited, however.
