"Pfizer" begins testing a drug to treat "Corona": it has shown anti-virus activity

The company "Pfizer" revealed, that it has started early stages of clinical trials in the United States in order to create a drug to treat patients infected with the emerging coronavirus.

The American company said in a statement on its official website, that preclinical studies showed that the drug that is taken orally showed strong anti-virus activity, noting that it follows a class of drugs known as "protease inhibitors" that have been used for a long time to treat virus patients ( HIV infection that causes acquired immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) and patients with hepatitis C virus (C).

She pointed out that the drug is taken orally, so it can be used outside hospitals for people newly infected with the virus.

Researchers hope that the drug will contribute to combating "Covid-19".
