"Star Wars" opens new page with novels and comics on the front Skywalker and the High Republic -

  • The Rise of Skywalker

    concluded forty years of

    Star Wars

in the cinema, and while waiting for new films, the saga is reinventing itself on television ... and in bookstores.

  • The Haute République

opens a new page, and goes back in time, with a series of interconnected novels and comics developed over several years.

  • The first novel,

    The Light of the Jedi

, is released Thursday at Pocket Editions.

“The Skywalker saga is coming to an end.

»During its promo,

The Rise of Skywalker

prepared the spirits well, the film of JJ Abrams did not only close the new trilogy (or postlogy), but well the three trilogies, nine episodes, and thus all the saga of Skywalker, from Anakin to Rey, which it s'. is a birth or assumed name.

The future of

Star Wars

would therefore finally be able to explore other galaxies, eras, characters… except that

The Mandalorian

proved that Disney and Lucasfilm, and perhaps the fans, were not ready.

Also with the announcement of new series on Obi-Wan, Boba Fett, Lando, Ahsoka, etc.

Who says Star Wars, would necessarily say Clone Wars, Galactic Empire, New Republic… And the High Republic then?

A long time ago, in a long time ago

Located 200 years before Episode I, this golden age of the Republic and the Jedi Knights is also the title given to a new

Star Wars

epic

, for the moment entirely literary, with novels and comics interconnected and published at different publishers, over several years.

The first,

The Light of the Jedi

, comes out Thursday at Pocket Editions.

If works have already explored before and after Skywalker, the takeover of Lucasfilm by Disney in 2012 made these stories obsolete, or rather non-canonical, and belonging to "Star Wars Legends".

With

Star Wars: The High Republic

, formerly Project Luminous, Disney and Lucasfilm offered authors appreciated by fans (Charles Soule, Justina Ireland, Cavan Scott ...) to start from scratch, or almost, and explore an era unrecognized, where peace reigns over the galaxy, the Republic is stronger than ever and the Jedi Knights keep watch.

A gigantic space station, the Star Torch, is about to be inaugurated and must begin exploration of the Outer Rim.

But several threats are awakening in the outer reaches of space, on the dark side of the Force, with the Nihils, a group of pirates, the Drengir, carnivorous plants, and especially the announcement of a significant but still mysterious event, the Great Disaster.

New heroes for new fans

This new page in the saga is also and above all an opportunity to present new heroes and heroines, like the young Jedi Vernestra Rwoh and the inventor Avon Starros in the children's novel

Une Test de Courage

, on March 31 in the Green Library, by the young Padawan Reath Silas in the novel E

n Pleines Ténèbres

, on April 22 at Pocket, or even the Jedi apprentice Keeve Trennis in the comics

La Haute République

, on May 5 at Panini Comics.

Not to mention new lightsabers, spaceships ...

Without a doubt, it's about creating new generations of fans, but the old ones (who said the parents?) Will also be there, and Disney and Lucasfilm do not intend to let them go.

Indeed,

The High Republic

is already planned to be spread over three phases (cuckoo Marvel) and therefore several years.

And if it was announced as 100% literary, this epic and period will finally be explored on the small screen in a future Disney + series,

The Acolyte

.

Before a film on the big one?
