The monster film Godzilla vs Kong, with Alexander Skarsgård in one of the main roles, will be the first major film to premiere at Cineworld since the giant chain closed over 660 cinemas in the USA, Great Britain and Ireland in October.

The film is scheduled to premiere in the US on April 2 and will air in the UK sometime in May, reports the BBC.

During the time when many cinemas have been closed, several major films have premiered on streaming services at the same time as they have opened in the cinemas that have been open.

First at the cinema

Last year, Cineworld and AMC (the world's largest cinema chain) sharply criticized the production company Universal Pictures, which chose to let the film Trolls: World tour premiere online.

The companies threatened not to show Universal Films.

Since then, more film companies have followed the same path - Warner Bros. announced in December that their films would be released simultaneously on the HBO Max service as in theaters.

But now the cinemas and production companies seem to have agreed and Godzilla vs Kong will be shown exclusively in cinemas for 45 days in the US and 31 days in the UK before they can be streamed online.
