Starting early this morning, Beijing was once again affected by the transmission of external sand and dust.

As of 10 o'clock, the city's air quality has reached a moderate level of pollution.

Lei Lei, the chief forecaster of the Municipal Meteorological Observatory, said that the impact of the sand and dust weather is still from the upper reaches of Mongolia.

At present, the visibility in most areas of the city is pretty good, about 10 kilometers, and the eastern part of Tongzhou, Daxing, and Chaoyang is about 9 kilometers.

Despite the impact of sand and dust weather, the overall situation of the Beijing sky is still good, and the visibility on the ground is also good.

Lei Lei said that from the perspective of circulation, today and tomorrow, the atmospheric circulation conditions are similar. Beijing is affected by high-altitude west or northwest airflows. The thermal conditions are good during the day, and the impact of sand and dust will be relatively obvious, and the night will be weakened.

It is expected that there will be a blast of cold air on the night of the 23rd. If the downdraft is obvious, the particulate matter will settle down and the dust will also dissipate.

In terms of temperature, the temperature rise in the past two days will not be affected. In addition, the radiation condition is relatively good and there is no low cloud effect. The highest temperature today is expected to be 19℃, and tomorrow it will be around 20℃.

In the past week, Beijing seems to be frequently affected by external dust. What is the reason?

Lei Lei said that the spring season of March and April is the season of frequent sand and dust weather. Due to the frequent cold air activity recently, if there is a relatively strong sandstorm in the upper reaches of Mongolia, it will be affected by the cold air. Transmission to downstream areas, Beijing will also be affected.

A strong sandstorm occurred in Mongolia on March 15. Many parts of the country, including Beijing, encountered the strongest sandstorm in the past ten years. As the cold air weakened, it entered an intermittent period, but in favorable conditions Under weather conditions, such as the underlying surface, pressure field, wind and other factors, sand and dust will rise again and affect downstream areas.

Preventive suggestions:

  1. Due to the impact of external sand and dust weather, friends of the public should minimize going out and wear masks when going out to avoid damage to eyes and respiratory tract caused by sand and dust.

Drivers and friends should slow down and drive cautiously when driving.

  2. The elderly, children and people with a history of respiratory allergic diseases should reduce their outdoor activities.

  3. The construction site shall be covered with bare ground in time to avoid dust, strengthen safety supervision, and stop all high-altitude operations such as hoisting, suspension, and climbing when necessary.

  4. The city management department should strengthen the inspection of outdoor advertising plaques, light boxes and other facilities, clean up damaged branches and fallen trees in time, and set up warning signs for potential dangerous points.

  5. Fire prevention inspections should be strengthened in parks, scenic spots, mountainous areas and other areas, and timely handling of fires.
