Like many other organizers, P3 has struggled with coronary restrictions.
The gala, which is normally held in January, had to be moved to March and is now carried out publicly at a hotel, with artists and presenters at a safe distance from each other, in different rooms.
World star Zara Larsson, for example, will perform in the elevator at the hotel while Daniela Rathana and Oscar Linnros perform their duet by the pool.
Sitting in custody
But covid-19 is not P3 Gold's only headache.
Since New Year's Eve, one of the gala's big poster names, hip-hop artist Yasin, has been detained for stamping as a felony.
He is nominated for awards in the categories artist of the year and hip hop / r'n'b of the year - and when the criminal suspicions became known, an outraged debate arose where critics said he should be deprived of the nominations.
Anna-Karin Larsson, area manager for Swedish Radio, has in an earlier interview with TT defended the decision to let the nominations stand firm with the organizers distinguishing between work and person.
- We look at his music, not at where he is in life right now, even though we understand that this is an issue that engages many and that can make people very upset.
But P3 Gold is a gala where we look back at the music year that has been and where Yasin was one of the most profiled music figures.
"Been a weird year"
Victor Leksell, who has a chance to win in the categories artist of the year, pop of the year and song of the year, has the most nominations for tonight's gala.
In an interview with TT when the nominations were announced, he emphasized that it was "super fun" to be noticed, but at the same time said that it was difficult to enjoy the success during the pandemic year.
- It has been such a strange year, it has felt so unreal.
I have not seen people or heard them sing along, but every second there is a new sharing on social media.
Other artists who have several opportunities to take home awards at the gala are Miriam Bryant, Icona Pop and Jelassi.
