“We sadly inform you that our beloved father and grandfather, Professor Evgeny Evgenievich Nesterenko, suddenly passed away at the age of 84 after being hospitalized with a serious illness (COVID-19),” RIA Novosti reported.
The family said that in the face of the pandemic, they decided to abandon the public ceremony and meetings with loved ones for the near future.
"In accordance with the last will of the deceased, the ashes will be buried in Russia," the artist's family said.
People's Artist of Russia Stakhan Rakhimov died earlier at the age of 83.
