In Miyagi prefecture, the number of infected people is increasing rapidly, with 107 people announcing the confirmation of infection of the new coronavirus on the 17th, the highest number ever.

Governor Murai of Miyagi Prefecture has decided to issue a state of emergency unique to the prefecture, saying that if the infection continues to spread, the medical care provision system may become tight.

The period is until the 11th of next month, and the range is the entire prefecture.

We do not make new requests to the citizens of the prefecture, such as requesting restaurants to shorten business hours, and it is expected that we will continue to request refraining from farewell parties and banquets for a large number of people at cherry blossom viewing.

However, since the infection is spreading especially in Sendai city, we will intensively carry out PCR tests in the downtown area of the city.

Governor Murai will hold a press conference with the mayor of Sendai City from 5:30 pm to formally announce it.
