After the preventive stop of the corona vaccinations with the agent from the manufacturer AstraZeneca, further incidents in Germany became known.

There are now 13 reported cases of blood clots (thrombosis) in cerebral veins related to vaccinations, as the Federal Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

Three patients died.

In total, there are twelve women and one man between 20 and 63 years of age.

In view of such incidents, vaccinations with AstraZeneca were suspended on Monday as a precaution - there were seven cases at the time.

Despite the high number of more than 1.6 million vaccinations with AstraZeneca, this is an above-average number.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to give an assessment of how to proceed on Thursday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends continuing vaccinations with the Covid-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca until further notice.

"The WHO is of the opinion that the benefits outweigh the risks," said the organization in Geneva on Wednesday.

AstraZeneca is the most important vaccine to date, which the joint vaccination initiative Covax under the umbrella of the WHO is also relying on.

It helps provide vaccines to countries around the world.
