Once again properly tidy up and afterwards it will run almost by itself with the order in your own four walls - if you set a few rules.

At least that is the approach of the author and interior designer Michael Wurster.

With his guide “30 minutes.

Forever tidy ”(Gabal-Verlag) he gives instructions on how to create a basic order at home and which methods help to keep it tidy in the long run.

After all, this saves nerves and leaves more time for more beautiful things.

In this excerpt, he explains his five-step plan in quick succession:

1. The basics

With the bestseller “Forever tidy”, management consultant Jürgen Kurz showed numerous readers how they can noticeably increase their efficiency in the office.

His concept, called “office kaizen”, can also be transferred to your own four walls in order to develop the vision of a home that is tidy forever, that is, a home that you only have to tidy up properly one last time.

Numerous automatisms then take effect.

The vision of a forever tidy home is based on the following basic ideas:

The principle "Kaizen" comes from Japanese and means something like "change for the better".

Home Kaizen therefore means that you continue to systematically optimize your home.

Home Kaizen is not just about mucking out, but rather about getting rid of all ballast.

Then you can design the home based on your own personality.

Because with all the longing for optimization and minimalism, the personal accents should remain.

2. The stages

It is best to have a nice notebook.

This way you can start your project “forever tidy” with motivation.

On the way to a tidy home, you go through a five-step process.

The stages of Home Kaizen can be summarized as follows:

Level 1: You remove ballast from your home and create a good order once.

To begin with, document the current situation with photos, and then clear it up.

If you are unsure about individual items, try throwing them out on a trial basis, which means you first store these things in the basement or in the attic before throwing them away after a set period of time.

Level 2: Define clear rules of the game for your home.

By assigning a clear place to all things, you create structures.

Visual books, reading piles, reading folders, budget, structures in the closets, cable management solutions and checklists make it possible to maintain a permanent basic order.

Level 3: This is about permanent optimization.

The home is specifically tailored to your needs, telephone calls are optimized, and mood boards provide the finishing touches.

In addition, small details such as fully extendable drawers, uniform coat hangers and a valet can make a surprisingly big difference.

Level 4: You develop discipline and initiative and learn to disarm your inner weaker self and develop targeted habits.

But of course you can also be supported - for example by modern smart home technologies.

At this level, it also makes sense to find out how upholstered furniture can be given a protective shield and how digitalization can support you in everything in your everyday life.

Step 5: Develop a vision for your own four walls: Find out which living style suits you: country house, patchwork, modern or classic?

3. Bring order into life

A chaotic life sooner or later leads to a chaotic home.

So if you want a tidy home, you also have to tidy up your own life, especially since your own four walls are always a mirror of your own life.

Give direction to your life by consciously reflecting:

Study life coaching.

Question yourself to find answers to the key questions in your life.

All the many crises in the world mean that one's own home is becoming more and more important: People long for security and security (cocooning).

You too can use your home to recharge your batteries there.

If you work from home, a tidy home in which you feel comfortable is particularly important so that you can develop maximum productivity.

The home is a mirror of your current life situation.

Hence, an effective cleanup process should go inside out.

It is crucial that you pay attention to both worlds.

4. Tips from the furnishing professional

For a harmonious home you not only need order, but also authenticity and warmth.

The authenticity is created by consciously designing your home in your own living style.

After all, this is based on your personality.

In order to create a warm ambience, you should bring the hygge trend into your home.

The term "hygge" means something like "cosiness".

You can reach them in the following ways, among others:

Rely on effective staging with light.

Lots of candles do a lot.

To be on the safe side, however, it is better to use real wax candles.

Set up your own four walls consciously with accessories that tell loving stories.

Showcases can be used to create simple effects or to present highlights appropriately.

Home is a magical place.

However, the magic only comes about through people.

Therefore, invite friends regularly and start new traditions.

All of this supports you on your way to a tidy home forever.
