At 20:57 on March 14, a forest fire was triggered by a lightning strike on the mountaintop of Ear Village, Xuewalong Town, Jiulong County, Sichuan Province. The fire line was north-south. The fire field was 120 meters long from east to west and 114 meters long from north to south.

The fire site is nearly 3,200 meters above sea level, surrounded by miscellaneous shrubs and high mountain pine. The ravines are vertical and horizontal, and the mountains are steep. The average slope is above 60 degrees, and the instantaneous wind reaches up to 5 to 6, which brings great difficulties to the rescue work.

There are no residential areas, villages, schools and important facilities in and around the fire site.

At the same time, based on the existing 229 rescuers, 50 professional firefighting teams in Kangding City and Yajiang County were increased, carrying 15 or more pumps and other materials to urgently reinforce the fire, and the east, south, and north three-line water pump operations were combined.
