JR Tokai said that the number of railway users has been sluggish due to the influence of the new coronavirus and the amount of work has continued to decrease, so the temporary leave of 400 employees per day has been reduced to 300 employees. After that, we announced that we will extend the period by another month until the end of next month.

From January 25th, JR Central will hold a "temporary return" for about 9,500 people, including station staff on the Shinkansen and conventional lines, and crew members on the Shinkansen, to temporarily take a rest of 400 employees per day. The period that was originally set to the end of February has been extended to the end of this month.

Regarding this period, JR Central decided to extend it by another month until the end of next month, considering that the number of railway users is still sluggish and the amount of work is decreasing.

On the other hand, the company plans to reduce the number of employees to 300 per day, and the salaries of employees who have taken a temporary leave will be paid without reduction.

JR Tokai has decided to resume operation of some of the temporary trains that had been canceled from the end of this month, but the number of users of the Tokaido Shinkansen from the 1st to the 9th of this month has already been affected by the new coronavirus. The severe situation continues, such as 26% below the same period last year.
