On March 15, the Central Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning for sand and dust storms.

The reporter learned from the Desertification Monitoring Center of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration that this is the first large-scale sandstorm in northern China in 2021 and the first time that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has been severely affected by sand and dust.

This dust weather mainly originated in Mongolia, and mainly affected 361 counties ( City, district, and banner), with a population of about 120 million people, and the affected land area is about 1.72 million square kilometers.

Among them, there are about 12.51 million hectares of arable land, about 16.49 million hectares of forest land, and about 69.34 million hectares of grassland.
