[Commentary] On March 15th, Lang Lang's "Gothenburg Variations" national tour solo concert held a press conference in Beijing.
The theme of this tour is "Music to the Heart" and will be played in the Poly Theater theaters in 15 cities including Changsha, Xiamen, Kunming, Zhuhai, etc.
[Explanation] "Gothenburg Variations" is a late keyboard work by the famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach, and it is also one of the largest and most magnificent variations in the history of music.
For Lang Lang, how to interpret the classic works hundreds of years ago is no small challenge.

This piece is the most important keyboard work of the Baroque period.
In a sense, we must travel to the past, using our current knowledge reserves and the current methods of playing the piano, combined with the music style and skills of the time.
The difficulty with this piece is that each segment has a specific nature and a specific character.
So where is the hard part at the same time?
It has a strong sense of improvisation.
So this is why I practiced for more than 20 years before I dared to play on stage.
[Explanation] In 2020, affected by the epidemic, the performance industry in many countries was forced to press the "pause button" and many concerts were cancelled.
Lang Lang said frankly that the epidemic has had a great impact on performers engaged in performing arts, but it is also a new beginning.

This epidemic has a huge impact in the music industry.
Including my teacher Graffman, who is 92 years old, he has never seen Carnegie (concert hall) be closed for more than a year.
So many symphony orchestras, no concerts for so long.
I have also been looking for status last year (2020).
As long as I had a few friends together, I said I would play a few songs for you.
Of course, we also reflect on what is it through this time?
How can we better cooperate with new media in the future so that classical music can continue to live with everyone without an audience?
I think it will be a new reshuffle for our entire industry, and it will be a new beginning.
[Explanation] At the event site, Lang Lang gave live teaching to the piano children of Beijing No. 2 Experimental Primary School Pinggu Branch and shared his own tips on piano practice.
Regarding whether he will train his own "piano prodigy", the new dad Lang Lang laughed and said that the baby is very talented in playing the piano, but the future direction of training is still based on the interest of the child and will not be forced.

Another thing that is particularly interesting is that the hands really look exactly like mine.
The little finger is also extremely long, almost the same as the second finger.
Then he just moved around all the time, just like I usually do, I usually have this habit, and my hands are always moving.
So I still train it, but I didn't think about when and how to train it. I really didn't think about it.
But I think any child, if possible, he must learn at least one musical instrument, which is definitely good for him.
Of course, if you learn with a utilitarian mentality, whether it is piano, then you (learn) anything, you may not be able to do anything.
