The court imposed the maximum sentence on Ali Al-Zain, on charges related to electronic fraud, mail fraud, identity theft and money laundering in a scheme to kill his family in exchange for millions of insurance money, and the convicted judge also ordered the payment of $ 261,751 in compensation to insurance companies.

Al-Muzayen had bought 8 life and death insurance policies that provide $ 3.4 million coverage for himself and his family between 2012 and 2013, roughly coinciding with his termination of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.

Prosecutors played records of phone calls at the trial in which Al-Muzayen asked to confirm that insurance certificates are active, will be paid upon accidental death, and that companies will not investigate claims submitted two years after the insurance policies were purchased.
