Five years ago, the seaside resort of Grand-Bassam, the main tourist center of Côte d'Ivoire, located 40 kilometers east of Abidjan, was targeted by a terrorist attack.

Nineteen people were killed and around thirty wounded in this attack claimed by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

Several accomplices and organizers were sentenced, but not the number 1 suspect, still on the run in the Sahel.

This attack severely affected local tourism.

And while it was going up the slope, the pandemic came to put a new halt to activity.

In an attempt to survive, professionals are trying to attract more local customers.
