From now on, it will no longer be necessary to count on The Weeknd to participate in the Grammy Awards, the highest body of recognition within the American music industry.

Shunned by the competition which did not grant him any nomination, he slams the door definitively and denounces the opacity and “corruption” in the nomination process.

An underground battle

For several years now, many artists have denounced the lack of transparency in the competition, and more particularly the lack of recognition towards black women and artists.

It had been the case of Drake, Kanye West or even Frank Ocean.

This year, The Weeknd's absence from the nominee list looks all the more like a punishment since the artist was a great success last year with his album
