Walks and sports activities will be authorized on the Promenade des Anglais and the beaches of Nice, Saturday and Sunday, while a new weekend of confinement was announced this Wednesday by the government for the Riviera coast.

It had been decided to close them during the application of this measure, on February 27 and 28 as well as on March 6 and 7, but Christian Estrosi gave up while "the incidence rate [the number of cases of Covid- 19 per 100,000 inhabitants] "went" from 642 "on January 24" to 484 today "in the Alpes-Maritimes, he announced this Wednesday evening.

"I want to open the promenade des Anglais to pedestrians and cyclists so that, subject to a strict application of barrier gestures, everyone can benefit from space to practice a physical activity", detailed the mayor LR of Nice, after a meeting of its “local scientific council”.

One or three hour walks?

A little earlier in the day, Christian Estrosi had also asked the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes "to extend to three hours, the authorization to leave to practice a physical activity or walk".

The first two weekends, the inhabitants of the 63 municipalities concerned were entitled to one-hour outings within a radius of five kilometers.

Travel was also allowed to get to a medical appointment or to shop in food stores.

The state services did not, this Wednesday evening, give more details on the conditions of this new partial confinement.
