  • NousToutes06 is a local branch of the national collective created in 2018. It works in the department to raise awareness about the issue of gender-based and sexual violence.

  • Feminist Union of Sciences Po Menton is a think tank on feminism, the place of men and women in society and sexism in everyday life.

  • An egalitarian Club, a sociological café on masculinity, projects on women's rights, the students of the Amiral de Grasse high school are already very committed and involved in issues of equality between all.

On the benches of the amphitheater of the Lycée Amiral de Grasse, this Wednesday morning, the first graders did not have their usual French class.

“Be careful, certain moments of the presentation can be shocking.

You are free to go and breathe in if you wish, ”warns Nowlenn Menard, representative of a feminist association on the Sciences Po Menton campus.

For two hours, the NousToutes06 collective and the Feminist Union association will talk to high school students about consent, gender-based and sexual violence and cyberstalking.

“On the occasion of International Women's Day [March 8], the egalitarian club of the lycée, which brings together students from second to final, decided to invite associations that promote the rights of women ”, indicates Christine Caradot, professor of history and geography but also referent of this club.

And as the first image of the slideshow specifies, "17 is the average age in which we enter into sexuality."

The interveners specify: "We come here so that you are informed, so as not to give excuses to those who do harm, so that you are not aggressors but also so that you can know what to do in the face of victims" .

"We must educate the boys"

The training was born three years ago, following numerous reports in the promotions of Sciences Po Menton.

It was first intended for university students.

“Then, this summer, we said to ourselves that we should extend it to high schools because that's where it all begins,” says Malka-Lou Ahache.

"It's very comprehensive," concludes the history teacher at the end of the first training window.

In addition to the topics covered, there is the legal aspect, testimonials, a little quiz and a lot of advice.

It is important to have workers who are close to young people with clear, sourced speeches adapted to this type of audience.

"

An opinion shared by Anaëlle, 16, who has just attended the conference: “It was captivating.

We talked about subjects without taboos.

In particular, I became aware of the risks of a person who sexually harasses.

"His comrade Marine nods:" I think we need to have more interventions of this kind, especially on cyberstalking because it is a real problem at our age.

The whole school should know about it, in particular to educate the boys.

During the conference, the interveners recalled that "all the boys were not aggressors", but that the figures showed a reality where "98% of the aggressors were men, which illustrated a huge systemic problem".

The high school student adds: “The boys present this morning seemed to have understood, they asked questions, they nodded.

It is good that they are forced to take courses of this type from time to time.

We girls go and find the information on our own if we ask ourselves questions, but this is generally less the case.

"

Take the male at the root

On this subject, the referent of the Equality Club is satisfied.

The nurse had raised some concerns about the procedure: “Some people feared they would feel bad.

The high school is a place of education but also a place of life.

We must then take the evil at the root.

The earlier we talk about these subjects, the more young adults we train are informed and aware of the problems that surround them.

This morning, the high school students were very attentive.

They are more and more aware and sensitive to these questions.

".

She continues: “It's been almost twenty years that I teach in this high school and almost twenty years that I fight to talk about these themes.

Usually, it is the teachers who train the students, this year the initiative comes from the young people.

It's great that it is they who are pushing us and that they are involved in these struggles ”.

For Alaïs, 16, it's a fact.

“Today's youth can make a difference.

Our generation is aware of the work to be done but it wants to get involved.

We see it with equality between men and women but also with ecology.

It is just beginning ".

Next week, the group of speakers returns to Admiral for new training niches before going to a high school in Cannes at the beginning of April.
