In the abuse complex in Münster, the district court sentenced a 27-year-old man to nine years in prison for multiple serious sexual abuse of children.

According to a court spokesman on Tuesday, the Grand Criminal Chamber remained under the prosecution's request.

In addition to almost eleven years in prison, she also called for preventive detention.

The judgment is not yet final (Ref .: 121 KLs 1/20).

The court justified the sentence with the detailed confession of the 27-year-old.

The student with no criminal record had admitted significantly more acts in the process than were originally charged.

He has now been sentenced for 8 acts of sexual abuse and 13 of serious sexual abuse.

The presiding judge spoke of a life confession in his judgment.

The court did not see the need for preventive detention following detention to protect the general public.

The student's statements - also as a witness in another trial - had led to the arrest of the main defendant's partner.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the mother of failing to prevent the abuse of her own child.

Further lawsuits - such as against the IT technician, who is considered the main culprit, and other defendants - are pending at the Münster District Court.

Judgments are not expected here until spring.

Alongside Lügde and Bergisch Gladbach, Münster is one of three large crime complexes in North Rhine-Westphalia that have been uncovered since 2019.

It is about sexual violence against a large number of children and about large networks with numerous participants and victims.

According to the police in Münster, there are currently 44 suspects in the complex, 29 of whom are in custody.

The investigators are so far from around 30 abused children.

Arrests in several federal states

The Münster case came to light in June 2020 after an investigation in a gazebo.

In the course of this, there had been arrests in several federal states and abroad.

A man from Schleswig-Holstein has already been sentenced to three years and three months in prison.

He had made a confession and thus spared the victim a testimony in court.

Two men from Hanover were sentenced to prison terms of almost eight and just over four years.

However, these judgments are not yet final.
