Xinhua News Agency, Ningbo, March 9 (Reporter Gu Xiaoli) The "Graphite Engraving-Calligraphy Exhibition of Xi'an Stele Forest" jointly organized by Tianyige Museum of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province and Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum recently opened in Tianyige Museum.

This exhibition displays 55 rubbings of famous steles collected by Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum, bringing visitors a visual feast of calligraphy art.

  According to the exhibitor’s introduction, the exhibition is divided into four units: "Interesting: Calligraphy in the Qin and Han Dynasties", "Natural Situation-Calligraphy in the Wei, Jin and Northern Dynasties", "Strict Laws-Calligraphy in the Sui and Tang Dynasties", and "Ink Expressing Emotion-Calligraphy in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties" The rubbings of famous monuments of past dynasties on display cover outstanding calligraphy works of various periods.

  The rubbings selected in this exhibition form a stone inscription "History of Chinese Calligraphy".

For example, in the "Qin and Han Calligraphy" unit, the Qin Dynasty "Yishan Carved Stone" and the rubbings of the "Xiping Stone Classic" written in official script by Cai Yong during the Xiping reign of the Ling Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty are exhibited. It is a masterpiece of Xiaozhuan in the Qin Dynasty. The calligraphy of "Xi Ping Shi Jing" tends to be square and strict, which is a model of Han Li.

  At the same time, the majestic and unsophisticated epitaphs of the Northern Dynasties and the famous monuments of the Sui and Tang dynasties are also on display, such as Zhang Xu's "Belly Pain Tie", Huai Su's "Tangling Madonna Tie" and so on.

There are also works of calligraphy masters from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties in the exhibition.

  Tianyi Pavilion is the oldest private library in our country. It was originally the library of Fan Qin, the right minister of the Ministry of War of the Ming Dynasty.

Xi’an Forest of Steles is famous at home and abroad for its ancient art of inscriptions, and enjoys the reputation of "Treasure House of Classics and History and Origin of Calligraphy".

The exhibition will last until April 5.
