During the metoo autumn 2017, several men were accused of sexual abuse, and in the wake of the designations, a number of women have been convicted of libel. Leading feminists such as Maria Sveland and Lo Kauppi think it is wrong.

Therefore, they have now started a fund that will pay damages to women who have been convicted when they told about alleged abuse in public.

They call the initiative Förtalskassan.

The lawyer Ängla Eklund specializes in law on the internet.

She understands the frustration that underlies the initiative.

- This really brings up situations where morality is set against the law, she says.

She describes the initiative as a statement of dissatisfaction and a way to circumvent the system.

- The criminal justice system is based on the individual being held responsible for his actions.

This is a way of circumventing the system when it is considered that the individual should not have to be held responsible for the crime himself, says Ängla Eklund.

At the same time, libel crimes and sexual crimes are very different, and the state of evidence often differs, she says.
