At Toshodaiji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Nara City, work was carried out to bring the national treasure "Jianzhen Osho-za Statue" to a museum in Kyoto City.

At Toshodaiji Temple in Nara City, there is a national treasure, "Jianzhen Wajo Zodiac Statue," which is a national treasure in the shape of Jianzhen, a high priest who came from China and opened the temple during the Nara period.

Prior to exhibiting at the special exhibition starting at the Kyoto National Museum in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City from 27th of this month, work was carried out to remove the statue enshrined in the storage from the temple.

On the 8th, after a memorial service was held to pray for the safety of the work, a trader specializing in the transportation of fine arts carefully took out the statue from the "kitchen".

After carefully wrapping it in Japanese paper and protecting it with a custom-made wooden frame with cushions, we carried it out on a truck equipped with a special device that cushions vibrations.

Elder Akihiko Nishiyama of Toshodaiji Temple said, "I want many people to see this statue and learn about the Buddhist precepts that Jianzhen Osho conveyed to Japan."

The special exhibition "Ayumi of Jianzhen Osho and the Precepts" will be held from 27th of this month.
