It's been a year since comedian Ken Shimura died of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus on the 29th of this month.

Based on the donation of more than 27 million yen collected by crowdfunding, a bronze statue of Mr. Shimura in the pose of "Ain" was made and will be installed in Higashimurayama City, Tokyo, where he was born.

The bronze statue is being set up by an executive committee whose members are the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Higashimurayama City, where he was born, in order to preserve the achievements of Mr. Shimura, who is loved by the locals. When I called for it, about 27 million yen was collected from all over the country.

Regarding the design of the bronze statue, as a result of the executive committee's examination from Mr. Shimura's gag and stories such as "Higashimurayama Ondo", "Bakaden-sama", "Dafunda", etc. I decided to do it.

By this summer, we will make a life-sized statue and install it at the east exit of Higashimurayama Station on the Seibu Line.

The executive committee says, "I want to keep the figure of Mr. Shimura, a local superstar, in the form. I want you to look forward to the completion."
