While they thought they could reserve doses of AstraZeneca vaccine this week, some city doctors learned Sunday evening that the doses would finally be reserved for vaccination in pharmacies.

A decision that raises many logistical difficulties ... and the anger of these professionals.

REPORT

While the acceleration of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 was to be based in particular on liberal doctors, a decision by the Ministry of Health provoked the fury of these professionals and unions.

According to a note sent on Sunday by the ministry, these doctors will ultimately not be able to order AstraZeneca vaccines this week, the delivery being reserved for pharmacists.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Monday March 8

Doctor Calafiore, who practices in Wattrelos, near Roubaix, thought he could order around thirty doses for a vaccination session in his office.

At the microphone of Europe 1, he deplores the decision of the health authorities, which will force him to cancel several meetings.

"We were asked to prioritize patients with health problems so that they could be vaccinated as quickly as possible, so we started to organize vaccinations by making appointments for them. And there, overnight, we will having to call them back to cancel, "he annoys.

And the doctor to question: "The patients who will not be able to vaccinate us, will they be able to be vaccinated by the pharmacist? It is not even sure."

"We are not doing what it takes to vaccinate as quickly as possible"

A situation which once again illustrates the shortage of stocks, according to Doctor Calafiore, who also wonders if it is not the consequence of the mass vaccination operations organized this weekend in the North.

"If we carried out major vaccination operations this weekend, we had to take the vaccines somewhere. So we can imagine that if we do not have vaccine deliveries in the coming weeks, it is because 'they were consumed this weekend, and that was for communication purposes. "

In any case, he concludes, "here, we are not doing what is necessary to vaccinate as quickly as possible".

The discontent of general practitioners is such that two doctors' unions demand the resignation of Jérôme Salomon, the Director General of Health, accused of misappropriation of vaccines for the benefit of pharmacists.

In Tourcoing, the representative of the CSMF (Confederation of French medical unions) calls on his colleagues to suspend their participation in vaccination centers.
