The health authorities in Germany
reported
5011
new corona infections to
the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day
.
That comes from the numbers of the RKI from Monday.
In addition,
34
new deaths were recorded
within 24 hours
- a new low in 2021.
However, the value should be treated with caution: It explicitly does not refer to how many people died within a day.
It's about the number of reports to the RKI.
This can also include deaths that occurred some time ago.
On Monday, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend.
The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 4.40 a.m., subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.
Exactly one week ago, the RKI had recorded 4732 new infections and 60 new deaths within one day.
On the previous Monday, the number of new deaths was 62, on Monday, January 11th.
the value was 343. The number of new deaths was last on November 1, 2020, lower than on Monday: 29 new cases were recorded on Sunday.

According to the RKI, the
number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (
seven-day incidence
) was
68.0
nationwide on Monday morning
- and thus higher than the previous day (66.1).
The number of new infections in Germany fell significantly for weeks in January and February.
However, it has recently stagnated, which could also be due to the spread of more contagious variants.
Four weeks ago, on February 8, the incidence had been 76.
Its previous high was reached on December 22nd at 197.6.
The high of 1,244 newly reported deaths was reached on January 14th.
Among the new infections registered within 24 hours, the highest value was reached on December 18 with 33,777 - but it contained 3500 late reports.

According to the RKI situation report on Sunday, the
nationwide
seven-day R-value
was
1.06
(previous day 1.06).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 106 more people.
The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;
if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.
Corona in Europe
Britain
initially reported no new deaths due to technical problems.
The number of deaths was later added: there were 82. On Saturday the number was 158. The number of new infections fell to 5177 after 6040. According to the latest information, 22.2 million British people have now received at least one vaccination dose.
That corresponds roughly to a third of the population.
Despite lockdown,
Hungary
reported a new high of 7269 new corona infections on Saturday.
That is 14 percent more cases than on Friday, as the authorities say.
The country with around ten million inhabitants has one of the highest infection and death rates in the world.
Recently, the numbers rose rapidly despite a partial lockdown.
The health authorities pointed to the spread of the British and South African mutants, which are considered more contagious.

Corona worldwide
In the
United States
, the number of at least once exceeds
vaccinated individuals
the
mark of 90 million
.
This is announced by the CDC disease center.
Of these, just under 58.9 million have received one of two required vaccinations and more than 30.7 million both.

The vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna are included.
About 328 million people live in the United States.
Chile
has meanwhile donated
40,000 doses of
the Chinese Sinovac vaccine to Ecuador and Paraguay, as reported on Saturday. This is announced by the governments of the two South American countries. The donation underscores the strong differences between Latin American countries in fighting the pandemic. Richer Chile has already vaccinated a quarter of its population with at least one dose. In Ecuador and Paraguay, on the other hand, vaccinations are progressing very slowly.
