Christiane Guiakora, French of Congolese origin, has been a liberal nurse for four years in Normandy, in Rouen, in the “Hauts de Rouen” in the cities, in popular and multicultural districts.

This former handball player, former lawyer, and former computer scientist found herself in the medical sector by the greatest of luck.

She decided to change her path to devote herself to underprivileged populations and her community.

Publicity

At 54, Christiane Guiakora, mother of four, is always in a good mood, it's a bit of her trademark.

A human warmth associated with her professionalism that she knows how to transmit on a daily basis.

“

This is what makes the beauty of our profession.

It's the hospital, but at home,

”Christiane tells us as she sets out on her tour for the day.

It marks a first stop at a Senegalese trader.

For this woman who finds herself stranded in France following her pathology, the nurse is part of the family.

She supports me, she pities me and she relieves me a lot.

This disease is the first time that I have had it and it encourages me in the path of recovery

”, testifies this patient to us.

“

Not only are we isolated, but we are also afraid that people will know that we are sick,

” adds Christiane.

She has chosen to practice her profession in this part of the city, the Hauts de Rouen, where some of her patients from the African diaspora find themselves isolated in the face of the disease.

“

Let's say that I chose this neighborhood because I am also an immigrant.

Immigrants, in general, are victims of the language barrier,

says Christiane.

This is why I chose this profession of liberal.

Come home, explain things to them, so that they can treat themselves properly because people are afraid.

Our role is to keep them standing

 !

 "

“

You know sometimes, it's the only person I see during the day,

” testifies another patient on Christiane's tour.

The TV is always on and is often the only presence for these women.

After the treatment, the nurse checks in on the cat, who is also sick.

She gently closes the door and leaves on her rounds because her patients are waiting for her.
