There is concern that the new coronavirus will affect other medical treatments, but the time it takes for patients with myocardial infarction who need emergency surgery to undergo surgery after being taken to the hospital tends to increase after April last year. It was found in the summary of the group of doctors.

This is a compilation of 25 medical institutions in Kanagawa Prefecture by the "Kanagawa Cardiovascular Emergency Study Group" made up of doctors who treat myocardial infarction.

Among these, the period from January to March last year, before the full-scale spread of the new coronavirus, and the period from April to December, when the infection spread, from the time the patient arrived at the hospital to the time of surgery. I checked the time it took.

As a result, it was found that the median value was 64 minutes until March, but it tended to increase to 72 minutes after April.

One standard is to start surgery for myocardial infarction within 90 minutes of arrival at the hospital, but in many cases it took more than 90 minutes.

According to the study group, it takes a certain amount of time to check for infection and prepare for acceptance, so if you suspect a myocardial infarction, we would like you to see us as soon as possible.

Professor Yuji Ikari of Tokai University School of Medicine, who is the caretaker of the Kanagawa Cardiovascular Emergency Study Group, said, "I want to respond as soon as possible, but I am taking a lot of measures to prevent infection. It takes extra time for medical treatment in the Corona era. It is necessary to think about how to deal with this. "
