With the broadcast of
Framing Britney Spears
, the documentary devoted largely to the tutelage of Britney Spears and the way she has been treated by the media since its inception, many voices have been raised especially against David Letterman.
Several interviews with the presenter have resurfaced during which the former host
of the CBS
Late Show
is particularly displaced and even humiliating towards his guests, including the interpreter of
Toxic
.
As can be seen in many sequences, including collected by BuzzFeed, David Letterman has repeatedly sought to crack the women he interviewed by forcing them to bring up painful topics.
This was the case with Lindsay Lohan in 2007, the host asked her about her stay in rehab until she bursts into tears, but also that of Paris Hilton.
A different world
The same year,
The Simple Life
star
had a brief stint in prison for a story of drinking and driving.
A highly media event but that the heiress hoped to quickly forget at the time.
So she had agreed to go through
David Letterman's
Late Show
, which she knew well, on condition that he avoided the subject.
But the presenter had put the star back to the wall by asking her straight away what she had eaten and who she had met in prison.
“And after that he kept pushing and pushing me and I just got more and more uncomfortable and annoyed.
It was as if he had knowingly sought to humiliate me.
It was just very cruel and mean.
When it was over I looked at it and said, “I'm never going to be on this show again.
You've crossed the line, ”” Paris Hilton recalled in an episode of her podcast
This is Paris
.
And to conclude: “It could not pass today.
The world is so different now ”.
