Mating of giant pandas was confirmed at Tokyo Ueno Zoo on the 6th.

The mating of the two animals has been confirmed for the first time in four years since the time of the popular "Xiang Xiang".

Mating was confirmed in the 15-year-old giant panda, male "Lee Lee" and female "Zhen Zhen", both bred at Ueno Zoo.

From late February, females showed signs of estrus, and on the evening of the 6th, when they had a "matchmaking" over the fence, they screamed frequently with each other and showed that the females were accepting males, so they were allowed to live together.

And after 5 pm, I confirmed the mating.

Giant pandas are more likely to become pregnant for only a few days of the year, and the zoo will observe the condition of the two and if they determine that they are likely to mate, they will try to live together again.

The mating of these two animals has been confirmed for the first time in four years since the time of the popular female "Xiang Xiang".

The person in charge at Ueno Zoo said, "I'm relieved first. I definitely want to connect it to breeding."

Normally, during the breeding season of pandas, we invite specialized staff from China to receive advice, but this time we can not come to Japan due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, so we are in contact by sending videos etc. is.
