Police and Juvenile Training School cooperate to support rehabilitation of boys Fukuoka Prefecture

In the wake of the murder of a woman in a commercial facility in Fukuoka City last year and the arrest of a boy who had just left the juvenile training school, the police and the juvenile training school cooperated to continue to support the boy even after leaving the hospital. In August last year, a woman was killed in a commercial facility in Fukuoka City, and a 15-year-old boy who had just left the juvenile training school and moved to a rehabilitation facility was arrested on suspicion of murder, and was isolated from his family. Police and others have pointed out that the lack of continuous support may have led to the crime because detailed information about the boy was not shared among the relevant organizations.

In the wake of this incident, the Fukuoka Prefectural Police Headquarters and the Fukuoka Juvenile Training School will collaborate to continuously support boys after leaving the Juvenile Training School for rehabilitation. I found out by interviewing the judiciary.

Boys who enter the juvenile training school can receive advice by contacting the instructor even after leaving the hospital, but according to the hospital, boys who cannot establish contact with society and who originally have a high need for support are interrupted. It means that there were a certain number of cases in which they sin again.

In a new initiative, the police and the juvenile training staff will have an interview with the boy before leaving the juvenile training school to consider future support based on the family environment, and the police staff will rehabilitate the boy. It means that you will continue to be involved even after entering the shelter.

The aim is to create a system in which the same person is consistently involved with the boy, and the police and the juvenile training school want to prevent crime and improve the rehabilitation of the boy.
