The metropolis of Nice, still one of the most affected in France by the Covid-19 epidemic, will benefit from an exceptional quota of vaccines obtained on the condition that it is administered "over 48 hours, Saturday and Sunday", Christian Estrosi announced this Thursday.

This new allocation of 12,000 first injections, promised by the Ministry of Health, will be dispatched in Nice and in the 48 other municipalities of the metropolis.

Other vaccination sites in the department will also share 12,000 other doses, which must be used under the same conditions.

Estrosi wants to "lead by example"

For the Nice community, "this is 4,000 doses of Pfizer / BioNTech for the over 75s and 8,000 AstraZeneca for the over 50s, unconditionally," said Mayor LR of Nice, specifying that he would benefit from one of his 8,000 doses on Friday.

"I want to set an example in the face of the reluctance that still exists against this vaccine, which is nevertheless excellent," he assured.

About 43,000 people registered on a platform put online by the metropolis are being contacted to organize an appointment this weekend.

Since the start of the campaign, we have vaccinated 34,000 people, of whom 13,000 have already received a second dose.

This new endowment in no way removes the second scheduled doses, ”also explained the elected official.

According to the latest report from the ARS Paca, published this Thursday, 58,467 people received at least a first dose in the Alpes-Maritimes department, where the number of cases of Covid-19 is on average, every day, 561 for 100,000 inhabitants.
