A new helicopter accident occurred early Tuesday afternoon in the Alps, but, unlike other recent events of this type, its five occupants are unharmed, firefighters announced.

The private helicopter, an EC120-type light aircraft, was taking off from a drop-off area along a road between the ski resorts of Les Gets and Morzine, in Haute-Savoie, when the crash occurred .

The cabin of the aircraft, lying on its side, was little damaged, which allowed the occupants to extricate themselves from the helicopter.

Only one person was slightly injured and was not transported to hospital, specify the Haute-Savoie firefighters, who add that the risk of a kerosene leak or of fire has been ruled out.

An investigation will be conducted by the air police, adds the same source.

Two crashes in Savoie in the past three months

On February 9, two people died and three were injured, including one seriously, due to a serious accident with their private helicopter on the heights of Courchevel (Savoie).

On December 8, the crash of a French Air Service (SAF) helicopter near Albertville (Savoie) left five people dead and one injured among the rescuers who were on board for training.
