In Sicily, for the seventh time since February 16, Etna erupted.

On Sunday February 28, the inhabitants of the towns at the foot of the volcano were surprised to wake up and discover a real carpet of ash at their feet, reports the HuffPost.

The volcanic ash projected by Mount Etna has indeed reached the towns of Giarre, Milo, Santa Venerina and Fornazzo.

Streets and cars were coated with spectacular black powder.

The inhabitants had to equip themselves with shovels and brooms to clear this mixture of ash and rocks, as shown in various videos posted on social networks.

500.00 years of eruptions

On February 16, an eruption forced Catania airport to close.

Part of the volcano's crater had subsided, causing lava to overflow and slide.

Impressive photos immortalizing a pink plume of ash above the snow-capped summit of the volcano had been shared.

The inhabitants have become accustomed to living at the rate of eruptions, more or less dangerous, for 500,000 years.

Etna, with an area of 1,250 km², is the most active volcano in Europe.

With its 3,324 meters, it is also the highest.
