After meeting with local elected officials, the police headquarters and the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo held a quick press point on the health situation on Monday after a resounding quack.

"The hypothesis" formulated Thursday by his first deputy Emmanuel Grégoire to reconfine the capital for three weeks to "have the prospect of reopening everything" at its end had indeed aroused strong criticism in the municipal opposition as in the government, the Prime Minister. Minister Jean Castex evoking "nonsense".

Anne Hidalgo was therefore more cautious, singling out some proposals on possible new anti-Covid measures.

At the same time, she reiterated her opposition to weekend confinement in Paris, an option "difficult, hard, even inhuman".

Places to "revise in peace"

Anne Hidalgo therefore focused on prevention, testing, while advocating access to public spaces for the population while asking that the rate of vaccination be quadrupled.

Going completely against the “hypothesis” of a three-week reconfinement mentioned by Emmanuel Grégoire, his first deputy, she, on the contrary, defended the possibility for Parisians to go out: “The more we restrict public spaces and the ventilation times for families, the less we fight against Covid, ”she assured.

"This is what we learned from the first confinement, outside we are less likely to catch the Covid when we wear a mask and we respect barrier gestures", a- she asserted.

"Open windows course"

The parks, gardens and the ways on the bank, however evacuated Sunday by the police forces, are "essential places to breathe in our city", she insisted, stressing that "the Parisians and Parisians are exemplary for twelve months (…).

But a year later, weariness sets in, we need a horizon ”.

To cope with the epidemic, she suggested "to teachers to give lessons with open windows, taking advantage in particular of the return of sunny days".

“I also suggest to the National Education to allow teachers to teach outdoors whenever possible.

"

Acceleration of the requested vaccination

Anne Hidalgo also asked that “the saliva tests allow us to test more quickly and more massively the children of the schools affected by the Covid” and that “this screening be repeated every two weeks”.

The mayor of the capital also called for an acceleration of vaccination.

“At the end of March, at the current rate, only a quarter of Parisians over 75 will have received two doses of vaccines.

I asked the ARS, the police prefect and the regional prefect, that we can quadruple the quantities of vaccines in the Paris metropolis, ”she said.
