Mild temperatures and sunshine have lured many people in NRW outside again at the weekend despite Corona restrictions.

However, the regulatory authorities did not report crowds like a week earlier, especially in the big cities.

The three largest cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Dortmund, in particular, had readjusted their protective regulations.

From the state capital it was said on Sunday about the newly imposed “no stay” that the situation at the popular places on the banks of the Rhine and in the old town was much more relaxed.

A city spokesman said the police and the public order office checked there in double stripes.

Numerous speeches and instructions on the prohibition to stay were necessary.

“The addressees were generally understandable.” Loudspeaker announcements were also used to point out the “no-stay ban”.

According to this, people in areas of the old town and the nearby banks of the Rhine are not allowed to stand, sit down or lie on a meadow on the weekends for most of the day until March 14th.

Masks are also required there for walkers and joggers.

A dpa reporter reported on many people who sat on the Rheinweise and on benches or squatted on bars on the banks of the Rhine - in the middle of the "prohibited zone".

Although they adhered to the rules of distance, they did not always wear mouth and nose protection.

The administrative court rejected an urgent application against the stay ban on Friday.

In the case of violations of Corona requirements, according to the city, there were fine proceedings in Düsseldorf on Saturday, regardless of the “no stay”.

In Cologne it was said that the general requirements were checked every day.

On Saturday, it was also made clear in 84 speeches in four larger parks that masking requirements apply there.

Street artists are no longer allowed to perform in the city center.

A spokeswoman said that apart from two violations, this was also taken into account.

Dortmund had also extended the mask requirement in the city area for the weekend, it also applies to some parks and the Phoenix Lake excursion destination.

A city spokesman said they were satisfied with the behavior of the citizens.

The first thing to do is to raise awareness of the new requirements.

According to a dpa journalist, it was relatively full on Sunday at Lake Phoenix.

Most people therefore wore mouth and nose protection and paid attention to the requirement of distance.

Signs were posted everywhere or notices sprayed on the floor to remind people to wear a mask.
