It is usually considered the starting shot for the awards gala season in the United States.

The Golden Globe Gala is known for being slightly wilder and sharper than the Oscars.

But this year's hosts, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, have promised a stress-free moment, without political jokes, according to Page Six.

Among the nominees is the Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson, who can be praised for the film music for Christopher Nolan's "Tenet".

Netflix can be a winner

Netflix could otherwise be one of this year's big winners.

The streaming service made a serious impact in this context last year, and after the pandemic year 2020, it has just over a third of the nominations: in addition to "Emily in Paris" also "Mank" by David Fincher, nominated in heavy categories as best film, best director, best male actor and best screenplay.

Aaron Sorkin's Netflix drama "The Trial of the Chicago 7" is also well placed with five nominations.

But the gala has been harshly criticized this year.

The #TimesUpGlobes campaign points out that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which selects nominees, does not have a single black member.

Criticized for lack of diversity

Many have also questioned why films such as Spike Lee's "Da 5 Bloods" and Shaka King's "Judas and the Black Messiah" were without nominations, as was the acclaimed TV series "I may destroy you".

Since then, the HFPA has promised cure and improvement, and an upcoming action plan for increased diversity.

The Golden Globe Awards are broadcast on TV4 Play on Monday night.
