To brighten up the daily lives of Parisians, singer Mika has initiated a poster campaign for works of art to occupy the spaces traditionally devoted to advertising.

It begins this Sunday at 11:30 am.

At the microphone of Europe 1, he told the genesis of the project.

INTERVIEW

Like many French people, singer Mika could only observe the ambient gloom in the capital, at a time when the Covid-19 epidemic forces us to close restaurants and places of culture.

While crossing Paris in a taxi, he noticed a few weeks ago that "there were ads everywhere for films that had not been released or exhibitions that were closed".

From there was born his reflection: "Why not transform these panels into a gallery?"

The singer told his project Sunday morning at the microphone of Europe 1.

2,600 posters throughout the Paris region

Indeed, Mika sees Morris columns and street furniture in general as an opportunity to showcase the creations of draftsmen and designers.

The idea once launched, contacts multiply with the town hall of Parie and a group specializing in poster advertising.

In a few weeks, the project takes shape: "We start [Sunday] morning. I will post the first two posters," enthuses the singer.

Mika explains that he hopes that 2,600 posters will be disseminated in the Paris region in this way.

Ten original works will make a place for themselves in this poster campaign.

Of different nationalities and ages, the artists all share a strong attachment to the capital: "It must have been people who make Paris their studio."

If they are not used to being exhibited in museums, most often putting themselves at the service of brands, this time they will have the opportunity to reveal themselves to the general public.
