It is a demand that goes beyond the usual party division.

Forty deputies from all political stripes ask the Prime Minister to study the reopening of restaurants "at lunch, for those who request it" from March 30, in a column published by the

JDD

.

This will have to be done "with adequate sanitary procedures".

“While some employees can have lunch in their company restaurants, others are forced to eat outside or in their offices: these places are not suitable and do not allow each employee to take a suitable break, to have a reasonable cut in their working day ”, argue the parliamentarians, the deputy MoDem Richard Ramos in mind.

The 42 deputies also believe that "almost all professionals in the sector have always complied with health instructions and implemented strict procedures" since the start of the health crisis.

They also underline that "the company restaurants are open at present, as well as some restaurants welcoming construction workers for their lunch break".

Save jobs

Reopening all the restaurants would also allow, according to them and "beyond the dramatic financial conditions of professionals and the probable increase in bankruptcy", not to aggravate the labor shortage in the sector.

“Those who worked in these establishments are now acting in other sectors.

Many of them do not wish to return to work in the restaurant business.

We must therefore quickly reopen these places, even partially, so as not to lose those who still want to work in restaurants, ”say the signatories.

Since October 30, bars, cafes and restaurants have been closed in France, only a residual take-out activity is allowed.

This request comes as the government is considering a new turn of the screw in 20 departments which fear an explosion in the number of Covid-19 contaminations.
