From the end of last year to this month, fake accounts impersonating real companies and organizations appeared one after another on SNS's photo sharing app "Instagram", and according to NHK's research, at least more than 100 companies in Japan in the last month and this month alone The group is reporting the damage.



Of these, Yotsuba Milk Products Co., Ltd., a major dairy manufacturer, confirmed three fake accounts in quick succession from the end of the year to this month.



In addition, the account impersonating the Commerce, Industry and Tourism Division of Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture had "Official" written in the description, and the image of the specialty tea leaves was used without permission.



According to information security company Trend Micro, when you follow these fake accounts, you will receive a message with a URL such as "To receive the product selected by the winner, follow the steps below", and when you click it, you will be sent to a malicious site. We are calling attention to the fact that personal information may be stolen, such as being guided and being asked to enter a credit card number.



The Japanese subsidiary of Facebook, which operates Instagram, says, "For spoofing accounts, a dedicated team confirms the contents and responds to deletion."
