Thursday evening, like 19 other French departments, Pas-de-Calais was placed under reinforced surveillance in the face of the increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus.

But long before that, from February 11, the president of the departmental council, Jean-Claude Leroy, had expressed his concern about the low endowment of his territory in doses of vaccine.

The boss of Pas-de-Calais deplores it, his elders are more fragile than elsewhere, in particular because of the arduousness and the length of their careers.

A finding that is all the more worrying in this period of coronavirus: "I fear that with the allocation of the number of doses of vaccines per week dedicated to Pas-de-Calais, it will not improve in the days to come", he had launched at the Hauts-de-France regional health agency (ARS).

A delay linked to "supply constraints"

Jean-Claude Leroy had a fine nose since, according to him, the ARS recognized "that a delay in the vaccination campaign had indeed been identified in the Pas-de-Calais".

The agency had explained to him that this delay was linked to “supply constraints”, but that measures were being taken to resolve it.

In the meantime, a first delivery of 2,000 additional doses of the Moderna vaccine has been made to the Arras hospital center.

By March 1 at the latest, “6,800 additional doses of Moderna will be delivered […] to hospitals in Arras and Calais”.

During March, in addition to those already planned, “10,000 additional doses of the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine” will arrive at hospitals in Arras and Calais.
