When the Lantern Festival approached, Deng Taotao, a 36-year-old man from Zhengning County, Qingyang, Gansu, remembered the cock lanterns and golden toad lanterns he had seen in his uncle’s house when he was a child, so he tried to make handmade lanterns for his children and nephews.

From tying the skeleton, pasting on colored paper, cutting and pasting, drawing with colored pens, and installing wax lamps, it usually takes one to two days to complete one.

Deng Taotao said that the Chinese zodiac lanterns are hung in the yard and children love it.
