"About ten night trains in 2030"

Withdrawn a little over 3 years ago, this Paris-Nice link is restarting as part of the government recovery plan, as is the Paris-Tarbes, announced for the end of the year.

The State has allocated 100 million euros for the refreshment of cars and the adaptation of workshops.

SNCF still operates two routes, from Paris to Rodez, Latour-de-Carol and Cerbère (Pyrénées-Orientales), as well as from Paris to Briançon (Hautes-Alpes).

In the longer term, the Minister for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari recently referred to "ten night trains in 2030".

A report on the matter is due in March to Parliament.

"Head to tail" in the bunks, Covid-19 requires

Regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, the SNCF recalls that barrier gestures also apply in night trains, where "the wearing of a mask remains compulsory throughout the trip".

The occupancy of the sleeper compartments is limited to four passengers (instead of the six usually in second class), in a “head to tail” position, while cars with reclining seats are occupied at the rate of one in two places.

Trains are cleaned and disinfected between each trip, and regularly during the trip on the parts of the train in contact with the hands of passengers, the company further specifies.
